Firedance Drum Festival 2009
Firedance Drum Festival is a new age music festival celebrating music, magick and earth based spirituality, August 13-16th, 2009.
Magik Morn: Firedance Drum Fest is located at Magik Morn, 761 Fleetwood Road, Janetville, Ontario., 1 hour east of Toronto, just south of Lindsay. Magik Morn, home of Wolf Song Gathering is rough camping only, there are no showers, kitchens, or cabins available, however, the site has a horse farm, beautiful rolling hills, 57 acres of lush natural forests, a swimming creek, walking trails, and many other great activities to experience. There is also a barbeque available, and a cooking fire for campers to use for cooking. There are also onsite outhouses, and port-a-potties for campers use.
Workshops: We are looking for different kinds of drum workshops, and can be anything from native drumming, japanese taiko, indian tablas, samba, afro-carribean, west african, to give a few examples. We do not host strictly drum workshops, but are open to all kinds of workshops, anything from astrology, tarot, holistic healing, women’s spirituality, dance, sound healing, meditation and much more. If you would like to present a workshop, please submit your bio and brief descriptions to firedancedrums @hotmail.com.
Rituals are open to all, Firedance staff and crew will host and opening and closing ritual, we also will hold a men’s and women’s ritual, and they are actually already booked for 2009. If you have a ritual that you’d like to present, please submit a bio, and brief description to firedancedrums @hotmail.com
Bardic Competition: Firedance will be hosting another Bardic Competition, which is essentially a talent contest around the fire. If you sing, dance, play a solo instumental piece, can recite beautiful poetry, wish to act out a monologue, the Bardic Competition is the time to showcase it. Sign ups will be available at Registration. The grand prize will be free festival admission for Firedance in 2010. Other highlights of the festival will be another performance with Chivalry House Productions, our Potluck Feast, and nightly dancing, drumming and revelry around our bonfire.
Vendors are welcome at no extra cost. Please note that unless you are disabled, or have very specific needs, you will not be able to camp, or keep your vehicle in the vendors area. If you have any questions regarding vending, please contact Erik Zierer.
